The South Portland Planning Board granted final approval to the redevelopment project at the old Roosevelt School during its meeting last week.

The vote was 5-0, according to Stephen Puleo, the city’s community planner, with board members Susan Hasson and Rob Schreiber absent.

The $3.4 million project, by Anew Development, consists of 19 condominium units, each with two bedrooms, two baths and laundry facilities. The property will also include a fitness room for residents and lots of green space, which will also be open to the wider neighborhood.

The overall goal of the developer, Ethan Boxer-Macomber, is to maintain the historic characteristics of the old school, which was built in 1927 at 317 Pine St. The condos, officially called Meetinghouse Lofts, will cost about $200,000, Boxer-Macomber said during a prior meeting.

Ten of the 19 condos would be built within the existing school and nine units (three on each floor) would go into the planned three-story addition.
