STANDISH — Nic Lops drove home three runs and scored once, and Alex Lorenc drove home two runs and scored twice as St. Joseph’s completed a sweep of a baseball doubleheader Saturday with a 10-0 victory over Rivier.

Joe Gruntkosky pitched six innings to earn the win for the Monks (10-5), striking out nine while allowing just three singles.

St. Joseph’s won the first game 13-3. 

COLBY SWEEPS TRINITY: Jason Buco hit his second home run of the game during a three-run seventh inning for the Mules (10-2, 2-0 NESCAC East) as they rallied for a 5-3 win over the Bantams (6-12, 1-4) in a doubleheader opener at Hartford, Conn.

Andrew Della Volpe hit a pair of RBI singles in the second game and scored the eventual winning run on Ryder Arsenault’s sacrifice fly as the Mules built a 6-0 lead through six innings and held on for a 6-5 victory.

ST. JOSEPH’S SWEEPS LASELL: Rae-Marie Copan struck out two and walked one while throwing a one-hitter, and Theresa Hendrix and Lindsay Moore drove in two runs apiece to lead the Monks (16-2, 8-0 GNAC) to a 4-0 win over the Lasers (12-10, 5-5) in the opener of a doubleheader at Newton, Mass.

In Game 2, Hendrix went 2 for 3 with a triple, a home run, three RBI and two runs scored to pace the Monks to an 8-0 victory in five innings. 

BOWDOIN SWEEPS TRINITY: Melissa DellaTorre pitched a three-hitter and Adriane Krul had three hits and scored three runs to lead the Polar Bears (12-6, 2-1 NESCAC) to a 5-1 win over the Bantams (5-13, 3-2) in the second game of a doubleheader at Hartford, Conn.

In the opener, Emily Griffin scattered nine hits and also had a pair of hits and an RBI in a 10-4 Bowdoin victory. 

USM SPLITS WITH WESTERN CONNECTICUT: Stefanie Stockwell struck out four while throwing a six-hitter, and Danni Humphrey drove in two runs and scored one to lead the Huskies (7-9, 1-1 Little East) to a 6-3 win over the Colonials (16-5-1, 1-1) in the second game of a doubleheader at Danbury, Conn.

In the opener, Stockwell hit an RBI single in the top of the seventh to bring Southern Maine within a run, but the Colonials kept the potential tying run stranded at third to hold on for a 4-3 win.

ALBANY 4, MAINE 0: Charlise Castro’s two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning broke a scoreless tie, and the Great Danes (12-7, 2-2 America East) added two runs in the fifth to pull away from Maine (12-10, 4-2) at Albany, N.Y.

Vicky McFarland also homered for Albany. The Black Bears managed only singles by Felicia Lennon and EmJ Fogel off Albany’s Brittany MacFawn, who had 10 strikeouts.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

ROGER WILLIAMS 19, UNE 6: Kristen Pingree scored six goals and assisted on another as the Hawks (5-6, 3-2 Commonwealth Coast) beat the Nor’easters (6-5, 1-2) at Bristol, R.I.

Rachel Schwaner paced the Nor’easters with three goals. Hannah Tavella scored twice. 

ST. JOSEPH’S 10, LASELL 8: Kat Gadbois scored four goals and the Monks (6-5, 5-0 GNAC) rallied in the second half to beat the Lasers (5-5, 3-2) at Newton, Mass.

Lizzie Calnan added three goals and an assist for the Monks, who trailed 7-6 at halftime. 

MIDDLEBURY 7, BATES 6: Cat Lincoln scored the tying goal and Bridget Instrum got the winner with about seven minutes remaining as the Panthers (9-1, 6-1 NESCAC) beat the Bobcats (7-5, 3-4) at Lewiston.

Wally Pierce and Emma Noto notched two goals apiece for Bates. 

BOWDOIN 14, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 9: Taylor Wilson and Jordan Smith scored four goals each for the Polar Bears (5-4, 3-4 NESCAC) in a victory over the Camels (4-7, 0-6) at Brunswick.

Lindsay Picard, Megan O’Connor and Betsy Sachs added two goals each. Taylor Thomas led the Camels with four goals.

AMHERST 12, COLBY 5: Krista Zsitvay and Rachel Passarelli scored three goals apiece to pace the Lord Jeffs (9-0, 6-0 NESCAC) in a win over the Mules (5-4, 3-3) at Waterville.

Abby Hatch had two goals and an assist for the Mules, who trailed 4-2 at halftime.

MEN’S LACROSSE

BOWDOIN 10, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 9: Tyler Williams’ unassisted goal capped Bowdoin’s comeback from an 8-1 deficit as the Polar Bears (9-2, 6-1 NESCAC) beat the Camels (7-4, 3-3) at New London, Conn.

Bowdoin trailed 9-7 before Daniel O’Berry converted a feed from Will Wise with 7:13 remaining. Just 22 seconds later, David Nemirov put in a pass from Franklin Reis, and Williams scored the winner 42 seconds later.

Wise finished with three goals and three assists. Dan Henley added two goals.

NORWICH 5, ST. JOSEPH’S 1: Victor Bill, Matt Flaherty and Ian Mendoza scored as the Cadets (3-8, 3-2 GNAC) opened a 3-0 lead en route to a victory against St. Joseph’s (4-5, 3-3) at Northfield, Vt.

Andrew Sullivan scored for the Monks. 

SALEM STATE 11, USM 10: Alex Pearsons scored all three of his goals in the fourth quarter as the Vikings (3-6, 1-1 Little East) went on a 4-0 run and held off the Huskies (2-7, 0-2) at Gorham.

Jeff Urmston and Tyler Jamison scored three goals apiece for Southern Maine. Seth Wing added two goals and an assist. 

MIDDLEBURY 10, BATES 7: Jack Rautiola scored all three of his goals during a closing 5-1 run by the Panthers (5-5, 4-3 NESCAC) in a win over the Bobcats (4-6, 1-6) at Middlebury, Vt.

Bates, which led 6-5 midway through the third quarter, was paced by Charlie Hildebrand and Jack Allard with two goals and an assist apiece.

ROGER WILLAMS 14, UNE 10: Mike Hanna, Jon Nessa and Wil Siefert each scored twice in the second quarter as the Hawks (10-2, 4-1 Commonwealth Coast) opened a 9-4 lead over the Nor’easters (3-9, 0-3) at Bristol, R.I.

Nick Gross tallied three goals for UNE. Patrick Wolfe added a pair. 

AMHERST 14, COLBY 7: Quinn Moroney collected four goals and five assists to lead the Lord Jeffs (8-2, 4-2 NESCAC) over the Mules (5-5, 2-4) at Amherst, Mass.

John Grimaldi scored four goals and Brendan McNeill had two assists to pace the Mules.
