BIDDEFORD — Kevin R. McKenney, 50, of Biddeford, died Friday, April 4, 2014 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, after a short and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

He was born Oct. 14, 1963 in Biddeford, to William W. and Laura (Hussey) McKenney.

He was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Biddeford High School in the Class of 1981.

Kevin had been employed as a welder with Pratt and Whitney in North Berwick for the past 23 years.

On Aug. 11, 2006, he married Thorin Lim in Biddeford.

He embraced life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed camping, playing volleyball, cheering on the New England Patriots and tailgating at the games, and visiting family and friends in Cambodia.

He was a kind, loving and devoted husband and a wonderful, caring father. Though he will be sadly missed, in his short life, he left behind lasting memories for his family and friends to cherish forever. His generosity lives on through the two lives he saved through the donation of his kidneys.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1994.

Kevin is survived by: his wife, Thorin McKenney; his daughter, Katie McKenney; his mother, Laura McKenney; one sister, Betty Belanger, 56, and her husband Norm; three brothers, Bob McKenney, 57, and his wife Sandy, Jim McKenney, 49, all of Biddeford, and Thomas McKenney, 53, and his wife Joanne of Dayton; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be 4-7 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
