Town Office Hours Changing

Town office hours are changing! Effective Wednesday, April 23, the offices will be open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For Kids Only

’Tweens and Teens are invited to join the Windham Public Library for the monthly TNT Club. It’s for kids only (grades 6-12), it’s free, and it’s fun. The group talks about books, audios and movies of a certain theme, then snack out and do an activity. Bring your friends. Murder Mystery Dinner Theater

On Sunday, April 13, at 4:30 p.m., the “Big Chill under the Big Top,” a murder mystery dinner theater, will be presented at the Parish Hall, North Windham Union Church. Choose beef stroganoff, chicken or a vegetarian dish. Email Kim McBride at [email protected] or call the church office, 892-6142 for information and reservations. First come, first served. Tickets $18 per person, $12 for age 10 and under. Includes show, meal and dessert.

Medicare Reminder

On Tuesday, April 15, the Southern Maine Agency on Aging (SMAA) will offer a Medicare seminar and counseling for the Lakes Region at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 919 Roosevelt Trail, Windham. A “Welcome to Medicare” seminar is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon. In addition to the seminar, there will be one-on-one counseling with volunteer Medicare advocates available from 9 a.m. to noon. Call the Southern Maine Agency on Aging to register for the upcoming seminar or to make a one-on-one appointment with a Medicare Advocate at 396-6500 or 1-800-427-7411. Seminar walk-ins can usually be accommodated. Further opportunities for these services will occur at the same location in May. Veterans Services

Veteran Service Officer Jerry Smith will be available on the 23rd of April at the Windham Veterans Center from 9 to noon. Smith will answer VA questions and assist with VA-related forms and information about benefits.

Alumni Banquet

The Windham High School Alumni Banquet will be held on Saturday, May 17, at the Windham Middle School. Doors open at 4 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Reservation forms will be going out in mid-April. Sue Simonson, secretary, appreciates all the alumni members who have provided email addresses – a big money saver. Contact Sue at [email protected]. Norma Rogers will chair the raffle table again this year. If you have an item or items to donate, contact her at 892-5608. This year’s class honorees are: 50 Years – The Class of ’64 and 25 Years – the Class of ’89! National Library Week

Windham Public Library will celebrate National Library Week on Monday, April 14, by hosting a “Declaration for the Right to Libraries” signing. At 4 p.m. presentations will be by State Librarian Linda Lord, author Julia Spencer-Fleming, illustrator Kevin Hawkes, town officials and library staff. The public is invited to attend and observe the unveiling of the new library logo. Refreshments will be served.

Fundraiser Seeking Plants

Windham Historical Society wants your extra plants! The society is holding its annual Plant Sale fundraiser on Saturday, May 24, from 8-5 p.m. at the museum headquarters on Windham Center Road. The historical gardeners are seeking donation of extra plants you may have – when you’re cleaning out your flower gardens and hedges, remember to call 892-1433 and leave a message or e-mail [email protected]. Poetry and Prose

The North Gorham Writers’ Group will read their original poetry and prose during their 16th Annual Reading at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, at the United Church of Christ, North Gorham. Participants include Gorham residents Terri Cole, Leanne Cooper, Warren Gilman, Delina Eisenhauer, John Labrecque, Mary Snell, and Linda Strout; plus Skip Brushaber of Westbrook and Chris Small of Freeport and Bob Bean of Standish.
