SANFORD — John Lawrick, 91, of Sanford, died April 10 at Southern Maine Health Care in Sanford, after a short illness.

He was born in Ashley, Pa. on Sept. 10, 1922, the son of Michael and Catherine (Lucas) Lawrick.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the aircraft carrier USS Boxer in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

John was employed for many years as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Sanford.

He was a member of the American Legion and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and a life member of the Sanford Lodge of Elks.

He was preceded in death by: a daughter, Joyce Doiron.

Survivors include: his wife, Lorraine (Demers) Lawrick of Sanford; daughters, Jo-Anne Patterson and her husband Allen of Sanford and Beverly Martineau and her husband Roger of New Boston, N.H.; grandsons, John Doiron of New Hampshire, Jimmy Doiron of Springvale, and Chris Doiron, his wife Amanda and their children Noah, Aidan, Sophia and Eli of Kingston, N.H.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Church of St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, 66 North Ave., Sanford. Burial with military honors will follow at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale. A luncheon will follow at the Heald Family Center, 574 Main St., Springvale. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a contribution to the charity of their choice.
