Zip Zamarchi of Eliot, a collector of a wide variety of bicycles, will present a program on the development and social importance of bicycles at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17 at the Sanford-Springvale Historical Museum, 505 Main St. His 40-year collection consists of approximately 70 bicycles. He has traveled extensively sharing with others the knowledge he has acquired and the many experiences he has had pursuing his unique interest. An item from his collection, a 52-inch, front-wheel bicycle, is presently part of the new transportation exhibit at the museum. This program is free. The museum is handicapped accessible.
Try it before you buy it at the Wells Public Library on Thursday, April 17 at 1:15 p.m. Jared Leadbetter, the technology wizard of the Maine State Library, will be at the library to explain the features of devices such as the iPad Mini, Nexus Tablet, Kindle Fire, Nook HD and Kindle Paper White. He will demonstrate how to use the devices, answer questions and let participants try them. This program is free, and open to the public. Friday, April 18
A fish chowder and corn chowder supper, hosted by members of the First Congregational Church of Kennebunkport to commemorate Good Friday, will be April 18 from 5-6:30 p.m. in the church’s Ober Hall at 141 North St.
The Ossipee Valley Agricultural Society will be holding the third annual Take-A-Chance Auction at Sacopee Valley Middle School in Hiram. Tickets go on sale 4 p.m. that day, with drawings starting at 6:30 p.m. Many items on display on the organization’s Facebook page.
A movie night for all ages will be held at The New School in Kennebunk on Friday, April 18 from 6-9 p.m. to benefit the school’s New York City Arts Intensive. Movies shown will be “Muppets Take Manhattan” and “The Princess Bride.” Pizza and popcorn will be available for purchase. The New School is located on Route 1. For more information, call 985-3745.

Time Riders, a well-known local band featuring oldies music, will perform from 7-11 p.m. at the Waterboro Grange Hall on Saturday, April 19. Proceeds will benefit the Waterborough Historical Society, which works to preserve Waterboro’s past. For more information, call 247-5926.
The Lyman Republican Committee will hold its regular monthly meeting on Saturday, April 19 at 10 a.m. at the Community Library in Goodwin’s Mills. All Lyman registered Republicans and undeclared voters are welcome at these meetings. The meeting would normally be scheduled for April 12, but has been pushed due to a conflict. In the wake of the recent caucus, the committee is starting with some new officers and getting plans formulated for the upcoming election. The next meeting of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers will be on April 19 at Kennebunk High School at 2 p.m. The program will bring together three people from different perspectives who will comment about Venezuelan events, including history, the recent uprising and current problems. The three people, all from different locations, will be brought together using Skype video conferencing. They are: Jack Hardy, a business executive, author and consultant who lived in Caracas for 30 years and traveled widely in Venezuela, as well as Central and South America; Jim Wyss, South America bureau chief for the Miami-Herald and McClatchy newspapers; and Eduardo Alvarez, a Venezuelan citizen and marketing professional with a degree in computer science from Venezuela and training in technology management at Northwestern University. As part of Saco Spirit’s Healthy Maine Streets program, a screening of the film “Hungry For Change” will be shown for free at the Saco Community Center, 75 Franklin St., on Tuesday, April 22 at 6:30 p.m. The film discusses nutrition and simplifies healthy eating, explaining the words used on nutrition labels and what they actually refer to.
