GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Rachel Magalski of Kennebunk, daughter of Michael and Cheryl Magalski, has been named a high distinction Anderson Scholar by the University of Florida’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

The honor is the highest recognition bestowed upon undergraduates at the school for their outstanding academic achievement.

Magalski, a junior at the University of Florida in Gainesville, is a chemical engineering major at the school. She also serves as spiritual director for the university’s Newman Club, a pastoral and social group at the St. Augustine Church and Catholic Student Center.

As a member of the Kennebunk High School Class of 2011, Magalski was named a National Merit Scholar, maintaining high honor roll grades throughout her high school career.
