BIDDEFORD — The Maine Democratic Party is ramping up its statewide grassroots efforts, opening four new campaign offices and doubling down on voter outreach ahead of the 2014 election.

Official office openings will take place in Portland, Bangor, Lewiston and Biddeford in the next two weeks with Mike Michaud for governor, Shenna Bellows for U.S. Senate and other Democratic candidates scheduled to attend.

This is the earliest the party has ever opened statewide offices during the campaign cycle, with new offices coming soon to Ellsworth, Bath and other towns across Maine, party officials said. MDP expects to open offices in all 16 counties within the coming months.

“The Maine Democratic Party is expanding its efforts to match the growing momentum of Mike Michaud for Governor, Shenna Bellows for U.S. Senate and all Democratic candidates,” said Ben Grant, chair of the Maine Democratic Party. “We’ve already talked to tens of thousands of voters in every county in the state, and we have hundreds of volunteer shifts on the books so far. We’re hitting the ground earlier than ever to build momentum with our supporters across the state.”

The MDP Campaign kickoff event in Biddeford will take place Saturday, April 26 from 1-6 p.m. at 299 Main St., Suite A.

Official office openings are open to the public; all supporters are welcome. To learn more about how to get involved, visit www.mainedems.org/takeaction.
