To the Editor:
The Chocolate Church is the central landmark of my Bath childhood. When I see its unique velvety profile coming over the hill on Washington Street and its elegant, heavy-doored entryway I am filled with good memories. Do you remember your first visit to the Chocolate Church? My first stage experience was in the inaugural Hot Chocolate Jubilee, where I made lifelong friends with community members of all ages. I have been lucky enough to experience the Chocolate Church from the house, the stage, and behind the scenes, which means I have been privy to the many ways the Chocolate Church strengthens the Bath community. Beyond serving as a gathering place to appreciate music and theater, it is a focal point of the arts community that brings energy and excitement to downtown Bath. In a world where beauty and creativity are superseded by economic growth and scientific advancement it is so important to protect and support our uniquely beautiful spaces.
The Chocolate Church is a part of the identity of our town. It brings together and strengthens the vibrant performing arts community in Bath. Please go to shows, volunteer, make your tax-deductible donations, or join the chorus at The Chocolate Church!

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
