BIDDEFORD — Biddeford pounded out 11 hits and Abbie Paquette pitched a three-hit, five-inning complete game as the Tigers topped Deering 13-1 in an SMAA girls softball game on Friday at Doran Field.
Jocelyn Moody and Brittany Roy both had RBI singles in the first inning for Biddeford (3-1), which scored five more runs in the third, four in the fourth and two in the fifth for the early victory over the Rams (0-3).
Kennebunk 9, Lake Region 4
KENNEBUNK — Brittany Madore went 3-for-3 at the plate with a walk and scored three times and Ally King went 2-for-4 and scored twice to lead Kennebunk to a 9-4 victory over Lake Region in a Western Maine Conference softball game on Friday.
Ally Gregoire also hit a triple and a double for the Rams (2-2).
Boys Tennis
Thornton Academy 4, Massabesic 1
SACO — Victor Menezes swept Jake Collupy 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles match to lead Thornton Academy to a 4-1 victory over Massabesic in an SMAA boys tennis match on Friday afternoon.
The Golden Trojans got another point from David Parran as he won the No. 2 singles match 6-2, 6-0 against Justin Langlois.
Thornton (3-0) also won both doubles matches as Will Caras and Eric Gooch beat Anfrew Mongiat and Adam Marcotte 62. 6-2 and Dylan Gooch partnered with Simon Belliveau to beat Chase Berry and Austyn Pfieffer 7-5, 6-0.
Massabesic (1-2) got its only point at the No. 3 singles, where Kyle Duffy topped Jared Waterhouse.
South Portland 5,Sanford 0
SANFORD — South Portland won four matches in straight sets and another in a third-set tiebreaker to sweep Sanford 5-0 in an SMAA boys tennis match on Friday afternoon.
Ian Mitchell downed Jake Arsenault 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 1 singles, while Tyler Gagne got the better of Calvin Eisenhauer by the same score at No. 2 singles. Sanford’s (0-2) best chance for a point came at No. 3 singles, where after dropping the first set to the Red Riots’ Alec Hewitt 6-2, Brian Dubois turned the tables to win the second set by the same score. But Hewitt recovered to win the third-set tiebreaker 8-2.
The Red Riots (2-1) won both doubles as well as Taylor Miller and Chris Feely beat Quinn Severs and Noah Miller 6-2, 6-0 while Eli Canfield and Thom Hodgkins defeated Tearrith Dong and Kyle Parks-Damon 6-1, 6-0.
Girls Tennis
SANFORD 3, SOUTH PORTLAND 2
SOUTH PORTLAND — Sanford won all three singles matches to come out on top 3-2 against host South Portland in an SMAA girls tennis match on Friday.
Kathryn Doiron rallied in No. 1 singles to beat Michelle Foster 2-6, 7-5, 6-4, while Misa Mai and Paige Tranchemontagne won in straight sets in No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
The No. 1 doubles team of Lauren MacPherson and Ciara Negron lost a close match, falling 6-1, 2-6, 4-6. Lauren Vachon and Allie Nichols lost in straight sets in No. 2 doubles.
