BATH — Dakota Jacobs relieved injured starting pitcher Trenton Moore in the second inning and pitched six solid innings as the Morse High School baseball team earned a 7-1 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Erskine Academy on Friday at Kelley Field.
Jacobs allowed one hit, struck out three and walked three.
Andrew LaCavera led the Morse offense with two hits, including a double. Liam McDonough picked up a key RBI double in a three-run fourth inning that gave the Shipbuilders a 4-1 lead, and Zack Holbrook singled, walked and scored a pair of runs. Jacobs chipped in a two-run single, while Keegan McDonough drove in a run with a single.
Ryan Rodrigue had both Erskine Academy (1-3) hits, both doubles, and drove in a run.
Morse is 3-1 and slated to visit Winslow today at 4 p.m.
MT. ARARAT 0
OXFORD HILLS 8
Walter Feeney and Will Frank combined pitching efforts to throw a onehitter
(with nine strikeouts, no walks), as host Oxford Hills cruised to a KVAC victory over Mt. Ararat on Friday.
Nick Attaliades-Ryan kept the bats hot for Oxford Hills, going 3-for-3 with two doubles, a triple and two RBIs. Dalton Rice and Nick Bowie each chipped in a double for the Vikings (3-1).
For Mt. Ararat (0-4, scheduled to host Mt. Blue today), Reilly Kons and Dakota D’orio took turns on the mound with two strikeouts and a walk.
Cam Cox had a game-opening bloop single, but was stranded at second base.
FREEPORT 2
FALMOUTH 3
Reece Armitage struck out the final four Freeport hitters as the Yachtsmen (3-0) held off the Falcons (0-3) at Falmouth on Friday in Western Maine Conference play.
Armitage came on for starter Ryan Mucci in the sixth with the basesloaded, but finished strong.
Bennett Hight had two hits for Freeport, including a double, while Peter LaMagna pitched well.
Patrick Lydon had two hits and an RBI for Falmouth.
Freeport visits York today at 4 p.m.
WISCASSET 5
MT. ABRAM 3
The visiting Wolverines scored a single run in both the sixth and seventh innings for a Mountain Valley Conference win over Mt. Abram (0-2) on Friday.
Wiscasset (2-1) was the visiting team on its home field, with the Roadrunners having to play on the road due to poor field conditions.
Tied 3-3, Dylan McMahon lifted a sacrifice fly to score pinch runner Chase Reed with the go-ahead run. Matt Craig scored a run in the seventh.
McMahon pitched 5.2 innings. With the bases-loaded in the sixth, reliever Tyler Bailey picked up a strikeout and escaped a two-on, two-out situation in the seventh for the save.
Daren Wood singled twice and drove in a run, while Chandler Longfellow picked up two RBIs with a secondinning single for the Wolverines. Nate Howard chipped in a double and Grant Hefler singled.
Wiscasset is 2-1 and hosts Hall-Dale today at 4:30 p.m.
