
She resided in Winship Green Nursing Home in Bath, battling Alzheimer’s disease the past four years.
She was born in Topsham, on Sept. 14, 1930, the daughter of Chester and Susie Staples. She attended Topsham schools and Brunswick High School. She married Harold F. McManus Sr. in Topsham on April 11, 1952.
Mrs. McManus was employed at several shoe shops and worked with her husband on their family farm.
She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and especially enjoyed country fairs, cooking, sewing. She served as a volunteer and member of the Topsham Fair Association and was a member of the Wiscasset Church of the Nazarene.
She was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Staples, and a half-sister, Patricia Shaw.
She is survived by her husband, Harold of Topsham; a son, Harold F. McManus Jr. and his wife, Lee; a brother, the Rev. Wallace Staples and his wife, Sharon, of Woolwich; a sister, Esther Whitmore and her husband, Robert, of Durham, and a granddaughter, Sara F. McManus.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at River View Cemetery, Pleasant Street, Topsham, with her brother, Rev. Wally Staples officiating. Arrangements are in the care of the Brackett Funeral Home.
