
Portland wrapped up its road trip with a 4-3 record. The Sea Dogs return home tonight to begin a four-game series with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats tonight at 6 p.m. at Hadlock Field.
Reading broke a 1-1 tie and took the lead for good with a six-pack of runs in the sixth against Portland’s Mike Augliera. Zach Collier began the rally with a single to right that plated Carlos Alonso from second and gave Reading the advantage. Cam Perkins followed with a double that scored Collier. With two outs, Brock Stassi picked up an RBI with a single to center, and Albert Cartwright launched a double for a 5-1 Reading lead.
Jose Valdez took over on the mound for the Sea Dogs and was greeted by a tworun home run from Lars Davis for a 7-1 Fightin’ Phils advantage.
Henry Ramos belted a solo home run for Portland to get the Sea Dogs to 7-2.
Reading bounced back with another run of its own in the bottom half of the frame, courtesy of an Aaron Alther RBI single to center.
Ramos again tried to spark a multi-run rally and comeback in the ninth with his second solo home run of the game, which cut it to 8-3. The next two hitters reached on singles, but Portland failed to score again.
Mookie Betts began the scoring for the Sea Dogs with a leadoff solo home run in the first inning, extending his on-base streak to 59 games.
