When Jackie Sartoris asked me to be her Treasurer, I asked her what she stood for. We talked about her leadership on education, the environment, fiscal responsibility, and concerns as an elder law attorney for Maine’s growing elder population. I already knew about her 7 years of service on the Town Council, the important ideas she championed, and what she accomplished. I knew about her strength in finding common ground on issues, for which she won a national award as a senior planner, and her training as a mediator. We also agreed strongly that keeping money out of politics is vital. Hearing her honesty, knowledge, and passion, knowing about her experience, and her proven leadership on tough issues, I am proud to be her Treasurer.
During this campaign, I’ve also watched Jackie live her Democratic values. We are the only Clean Election campaign, spending less than half the money of our opponent, using recycled signs, going to doors by bicycle, and making sure that everyone knows they have an important choice to make on June 10.
As a working mother with an almost-kindergartener, Jackie will be an important addition to our Legislature. Please join me in supporting an energetic and thoughtful advocate for our community.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
