SEATTLE — Mark Rogers of Orrs Island was released after two outings for the Seattle Mariners’ AAA Tacoma, Wash., minor league club.
Rogers, who was in the Milwaukee Brewers organization for a decade, posted a 3.86 ERA and 5/7 strikeout/walk ratio over his first seven innings at Triple-A Tacoma.
The 28-year-old has a long history of injuries, but should get another shot somewhere as long as he’s healthy, according to reports.
Rogers started Sunday for the Tacoma Rainiers, allowing two runs, two hits and five walks. The game was delayed two hours, 39 minutes and later suspended because of inclement weather with five outs to go. It was completed Monday night with the Las Vegas 51s (the New York Mets affiliate) taking a 7-5 victory — but not before Rogers was released.
Rogers was the No. 5 overall pick with the Brewers in 2004, and he appeared to be on the verge of breaking through after having success in the majors in 2011 and 2012, but injuries have hampered his career.
In 2012 he went 3-1 for Milwaukee with a 3.92 earned run average.
