SACO — Karen (Klotz) Nielsen peacefully sang the last measure of her beautiful song of life on Thursday, May 8.
From July 29, 1947, when she took her first breath, to Thursday, when she took her last, the lyrics of her song were ones of kindness, wisdom, fierce resolve, humor and love.
She sang her healing songs as: the daughter of Alma; mother of Kira (Merrills) and Daniel; the wife of Douglas; and grandmother of Abel and Lucia.
She was a physical therapist for 43 years.
A celebratory gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, May 17 at First Parish Congregational Church of Saco at 11 a.m. If you cannot be present at that time, please consider taking a moment and singing a song that is a favorite of yours in her memory. If you are moved to make a contribution in her name, please consider the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund of First Parish, 12 Beach St., Saco, ME 04072; The Cancer Community Center of Scarborough, 778 Main St., South Portland, ME 04106; or a social justice effort of your choice. Dennett, Craig & Pate, 365 Main St., Saco, is in charge of the arrangements.
