SANFORD — Marion E. O’Malley, 105, of Sanford, died peacefully at St. Andre’s Healthcare Center in Biddeford.

Marion was born Nov. 13, 1908 in Old Orchard Beach, a daughter of Joel and Mabel (Seaward) Hersom.

She attended local schools and worked at Kesslen Shoe for many years.

Marion was a hard working lady who loved life and accepted all of the challenges as an opportunity to discover something new in life. She was very positive and well-organized, and always had her daily routine and activities pre-planned and prioritized. It was amazing to see how much she could accomplish in a day. She loved children and keeping up with the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Always looking for the beauty in life, she also loved flowers.

Marion was preceded in death by: her husband, James O’Malley; her son, Charles Bedard; and her grandsons, Charles R. Bedard, Robert P. Bedard and David W. Bedard.

She is remembered and lovingly missed by: her grandchildren, Leslie James Bedard and his wife Joanne and Steven Michael Bedard and his wife Meagan; her granddaughters-in-law, Eleanor Bedard and Natalie Bedard; her stepgrandchildren, Elaine Tibbetts, Walter Barstow, Michael Bedard, Debbie Bedard and Johnny Bedard; and many great-grandchildren.

Friends and family may visit from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel.
