Air Force Airman Aliyah Yates has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Yates is the daughter of Tammy Yates of Standish and granddaughter of Bruce Yates of Dexter. She is a 2013 graduate of Bonny Eagle High School, Standish.

Army Pvt. Ryan P. Corcoran, son of Steve and Rachel Corcoran of Scarborough, graduated in January from One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia, and is stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, as an Abrams M1 Armor Tank crewman. He was recently awarded the Army Achievement Medal for exceptional military service, and for contributing to the increased combat readiness of the Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 9th U.S. Cavalry Regiment. Corcoran is a 2013 graduate of Scarborough High School.

Sara Britton, a Portland native, was recently presented with a certificate of appreciation for her work as a family readiness assistant for 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade at Camp Courtney Marine Base in Uruma City, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan.

Harold T. Andrews American Legion Post 17, 23 Deering St., Portland, is offering a trolley service for World War II veterans or any veteran unable to walk in Portland’s Memorial Day parade. Arrive at the post by 10 a.m. on May 26. Call 773-8932 for more information.
