The Pownal Board of Selectmen will meet Monday, June 2; Monday, June 16; and Monday, June 30, at 7 p.m., at Mallett Hall.
The Solid Waste Committee will meet Monday, June 9, at 6 p.m., in Mallett Hall.
Elections, town meeting coming
Voting for local elections will be on the ballot Tuesday, June 10, 8 a.m.-8 p.m., at Mallett Hall. The Pownal town meeting is Monday, June 16, starting at 6:30 p.m., at Pownal Elementary School. For more information, call the Town Office, 688-4611.
Church hosts Bible Conference
First Parish Congregational Church of Pownal, at 422 Hallowell Road, will host the annual NBBI Bible Conference on May 30-31 at the church.
New Brunswick Bible Institute President Matthew Little and Chancellor John Hoag will be the teachers. The first study will focus on Ezekiel 38 and 39 (Gog and Magog), which are relevant to current conflict in the Middle East. The second study will be on the Life of Moses. Classes will be from 7-9 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday. Lunch will be served. Everyone is welcome. Study materials will be provided.

Beans and more at Methodist church
The North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road, will hold a public baked bean and spaghetti supper on Saturday, June 7, from 4:30-6 p.m.
On the menu are three kinds of beans, spaghetti with meat sauce, potato salad, cole slaw, biscuits and brown bread, pickled beets and assorted homemade pies. Tickets are adults $7, children 4-12 years $3, and free for children 3 and under. Suppers are the first Saturday of every month through November. For more information, call Kim at 865-3517.
RSU 5 budget votes
Regional School Unit 5’s budget meeting is Wednesday, May 28, at 6:30 p.m., at the Freeport High School gym. The budget validation referendum is Tuesday, June 10, in each RSU town.
Food pantry
benefit set
The Freeport Lioness-Lions Club is holding a food drive to benefit Freeport Community Services’ food pantry, Saturday, June 14, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., at Shaw’s Supermarket in Freeport. Donations of non-perishable food items and/or money will be accepted. Those who need items picked up should call Kelly at 751-5878 or email [email protected].

flood maps
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is in the process of amending the flood maps on which many of the town’s building setbacks and regulations are based. Homeowners are urged to come into the town office during business hours and take a look at the proposed maps to see if any changes are proposed that might affect their property. There will be forms available to appeal those changes.
Bottle drive fundraising
The Pownal Fire Company, which works to support the Pownal Fire & Rescue Department, seeks donations of returnable bottles and cans. In addition to providing food during fires and trainings, the group purchases work uniforms and equipment for emergency personnel. The money also helps to keep the fire department’s expenses down. The bottle building is located behind the town hall.
The Pownal Fire Company is independent from the town and Pownal Fire and Rescue Department.
Men’s breakfast
at church
The First Parish Church of Pownal hosts a men’s breakfast the first Saturday of each month at 7:30 a.m., open to any men who want to come. The Rev. John Wentworth leads the discussions.
Food pantry
The North Pownal United Methodist Church food Pantry on 851 Lawrence Road is open every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m.-noon. The pantry usually gets different kinds of breads, produce, desserts, etc. All are welcome.

North Pownal United Methodist Church worship service is Sunday at 9 a.m. Sunday School for children and adults is at 10:30 am. All are welcome. The Rev. Raymond St. Pierre is pastor.
