Gov. Paul LePage named his acting finance chief on Thursday.

Richard W. Rosen, a former state senator from Bucksport, will become the acting commissioner for the Maine Department of Administrative and Financial Services effective June 1. Rosen, who currently serves as the deputy finance commissioner and was the former head of the governor’s Office of Policy and Management, will take over for current finance chief Sawin Millett Jr.

Millett will retire May 31.

“I am pleased to appoint Richard Rosen as acting commissioner,” said LePage said in a statement. “Richard has served the people of Maine well in every position he has held. While there are big shoes to fill with the retirement of Sawin Millett, I am confident (the department) is in very capable hands.”

During the Republican-controlled 125th Legislature, Rosen was the Senate chairman of the Legislature’s budget-writing committee. He served four terms in the state Senate and three terms in the House prior to joining the LePage administration in 2013.
