SOUTH PORTLAND – The South Portland Draft Ordinance Committee expects to publicly release its draft recommendations regarding how to best regulate the flow of tar-sands oil in the city on Friday, May 30.

The draft recommendations and information about submitting comments will be posted on the committee’s webpage: www.southportland.org/departments/city-clerk/draft_ordinance_committee/.

The committee is also holding a public forum at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, at City Hall. City Manager Jim Gailey said the amount of time allotted for comment is expected to be no less than 2 minutes and no more than 5.

The committee expects to finalize its recommendations to the City Council by mid-June and plans to present its recommendations to the council at a special workshop on Wednesday, June 25.
