WELLS — A 22-mile car chase through four jurisdictions began in Wells on Saturday, at about one minute before midnight.
Wells police were investigating a speeding vehicle on Littlefield Road where the driver tried to pull off Littlefield Road and hide near Ridge Top Lane.
When the officer located the vehicle, the driver sped away, according to a statement from Wells police.
After the officer found the suspect vehicle, a chase ensued down Littlefield Road and north onto Post Road, police said.
The vehicle was eventually stopped by a tire deflating device as it crossed into Wells. The Maine State Police assisted.
There were no injuries reported.
Timothy A. Gregoire of Ogunquit was taken into custody without any further incident, according to police. He was unable to post the $10,000 cash bail and was transported to the York County Jail in Alfred.
Gregoire is scheduled to appear at the York County Superior Court in Alfred on the charge of eluding an officer on July 10 at 8:30 a.m.
In addition to the charge of eluding an officer, charges of operating under the influence, reckless conduct and criminal speed will also be presented to the grand jury.
