The Freeport High School track and field squads competed Saturday at the Western Maine Conference Championships, held at Lake Region High School.

The Freeport girls finished fifth in Division 2 with 72 points, behind Traip Academy (115), Sacopee Valley (114), Wells (82) and North Yarmouth Academy (74).

The Freeport boys took second in Division 2 149.50-87 to champion Sacopee Valley, with Yarmouth third (76), Wells fourth (72.50) and Poland fifth (72).

In boys action, Harrison Stivers won the 400-meter dash (51.02) and was second in the 800 (2:09.57). Luke Spaulding won the 1600 race/walk in a schoolrecord 8:25.60, with teammate Brendan Qualls second (8:47.13).

Also, Austin Williams placed fifth in the 800 (2:15.26), Erik Brobst third in the 1600 (4:56.80), Henry Jaques fourth in the 1600 (5:01.33) and third in the 3200 (11:32.85), Chandler Vincent second in the 3200 (school-record 9:56.74), Joey Minieri fifth in the 3200 (12:01.03), Braden Marstaller fifth in the 110 hurdles (20.04) and Demetrius Rodriguez second in the long jump (18-10.00) and fourth in the triple jump (36-07.50).

The4x100relayofRodriguez,Nick Wilson, AJ Daniel and Eric Wentworth took second in a school-record 46.45. The4x400relaywassixthin4:05.65.

On the girls side, Lexi Dietrich was third in the 100 (13.70) and second in the 200 (26.90), Bethanie Knighton second in the 400 with a school-record 1:01.21 and sixth in the 800 (2:42.68), Maddie Squibb third in the 400 (1:03.41), Hayley Steckler second in the 800 (2:34.05) and Chloe Hight fourth in the 800 (2:35.38).

Also for the Falcons, in the 1600, Hannah Schnyder was second (5:45.7), Sydney Ambrose third (5:46.95) and Emily Jennings sixth (6:05.98).

Ambrose also placed fifth in the 3200 (13:25.42) and Schnyder sixth (13:52.04).

The4x400relayofSteckler, Knighton, Hight and Dietrich also won in a school-record 4:17.20, while the 4 x 100 relay was fifth (56.70) and Taylor Schenker placed sixth in the 1600 race/walk (1:19.00).

Up next for Freeport is the State Class B Championships this Saturday at Brewer High School.
