BIDDEFORD — All though the event isn’t until October, it’s not too soon to register for AppleCycle, a fundraiser bicycle ride to benefit the Community Bicycle Center, a Biddeford-based youth program.
AppleCycle will take place Sunday, Oct. 5, 9 a.m., at Bunganut Pond, Lyman.
Participants can choose from three different distances to ride: 17, 30 or 62 miles.
AppleCycle benefits the CBC, which is a year-round youth development program and home-base for hundreds of children. The community-based program uses bicycle-related activities as the tool for helping youth and young adults, especially those who are struggling in other areas of their lives, achieve future success through asset-building activities, mentorship and life skills development. The programs operate year-round and are free for youth.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
