SCARBOROUGH – On Tuesday, June 10, the polls will be open in Scarborough, Cape Elizabeth and South Portland for the local school budget referendums, as well as for the primaries for various county, state and national offices.

The only contested primary locally is the race for Cumberland County Sheriff between Michael Edes and current Sheriff Kevin Joyce. Edes is a sergeant with the Maine State Police and Joyce is seeking the opportunity to serve another four years in office.

In House District 33, which covers South Portland, Tim Smith’s name will appear on the Democratic ballot, even though he has officially withdrawn from the race, which also features former South Portland Mayor Rosemarie De Angelis.

• Cape Elizabeth

Voting will take place at the high school, 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Residents will be asked whether they approve of the proposed $23.2 million school budget, which includes full-day kindergarten for all students. • Scarborough

All residents vote at the high school and the polls will be open 7 a.m.-8 p.m. The proposed school spending package stands at $43.4 million. Call the town clerk’s office at 730-4020 for more information, including registering to vote and absentee ballots.

• South Portland

The polls in the city’s five voting districts will be open 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Residents in District 1 vote at the Boys & Girls Club; District 2 residents vote at the American Legion on Broadway; Districts 3 and 4 residents vote at the Community Center; and residents in District 5 vote at the Redbank Community Center. In South Portland, residents are being asked to approve a proposed school budget of $44.8 million for the new fiscal year. Call the city clerk’s office at 767-7601 for more information, including registering to vote and absentee ballots.
