It was a bright, sunny day at Wiscasset Speedway Saturday and fans packed the bleachers.
On the schedule was the Group One Division: New England 4 Cylinder Prostocks, Napa Super Street, Outlaw Minis and Prostock. Also at the track was an exhibition of modified racing.
The spotlighted race was a 35-lap New England 4-Cylinder Prostock feature.
Starting at the pole was Ryan Hayes. Behind him were Jerry Bailey and James Bailey of Wiscasset.
Coming up fast from his eighth-place starting position was Jeff Prindall of Lisbon Falls, who passed Hayes for first on the inside of turn two during lap 14.
During lap 28, Kamren Knowles passed Hayes for second. Prindall sped under the checkered in first for his fourth consecutive win. Knowles was second and Jerry Bailey third.
Providing a show for the crowd were the modified race cars in a 20-lap Modified exhibition feature. Starting at the pole was Calvin Rose, followed by Richard Jordan and Mark Lucas of Harpswell.
What ensued was a battle between Lucas and Jordan for the lead, and there were nine lead changes between the two during a 16-lap stretch. Lucas headed to the outside during lap 18, made the final pass on turn three and went on to win, with Jordan second and Rose third.
Napa Super Street
Next on the agenda was a 25-lap Napa Super Street feature.
Starting at the pole was James Osmond of Wiscasset, followed by Dan Nessmith of Wiscasset and Kevin Morse.
Coming up from his eighth starting position was Adam Chadbourne of Woolwich. Chadbourne passed Dan Nessmith of Wiscasset on turn two for third during lap seven.
During lap 24, Nessmith passed Chadbourne on the inside of turn three for third.
Osmond placed first, with Austin second.
In a quick straightforward race, 12 Outlaw Mini’s hit the track for a 25-lap feature. Mike Mason started on the pole, and behind him were Jimmy Childs and Matt Moore.
During lap two, Ryan Glover passed Moore for second and Calvin Rose, Jr. passed Moore on turn four for third. Shawn Kimball passed Rose on the inside of turn three for third during lap 23.
Mason finished first, Glover second and Kimball third.
The next crowd pleaser was a 30-lap Prostock race. Starting at the pole was Joe Decker, followed by Maggie Ferland and Nick Hinkley Wiscasset.
When the green flag flew Hinkley, Bill Penfold and Mike Orr of Wiscasset headed inside and passed Ferland when she was slow off the start.
Hinkley passed Decker on the inside of turn two during lap two for first. Hinkley’s lead was short-lived as he was black-flagged during lap four due to mechanical issues. Decker moved to first, Penfold second and Orr third.
There was a caution during lap 13. When racing action resumed, Penfold passed Decker on the outside of turn one. During lap 19, Orr passed Decker on the outside for second.
Penfold took the checkered with Orr second and Decker third.
Wiscasset Speedway resumes racing action this upcoming Saturday with its Group Two lineup of divisions: Strictly Street, Mini Trucks, Outlaw Mini, Late Model Sportsman, and the flex race of the week will be NEMA Midgets and Lites.
