LYMAN — Journal Tribune nature columnist and author Rachel Lovejoy recently published her third short novel on Amazon, entitled “The House.”
The story is set during the early 1960s in a fictional southern Maine town, and follows the adventures of a small group of misfit kids who come upon an old abandoned house that will change their lives forever. During one summer, their experiences involving the old cottage prove in various ways to be the stepping-off point for all of them from childhood to adulthood, but more so for the oldest member of the group, whose own discoveries and interactions there leave a profound and lasting mark upon her.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
