BRUNSWICK — Police said they have charged a Brunswick man after he called for help for an overdosing passenger.
Skyler D. Higginson, 23, was charged with operating under the influence and violating conditions of his release on June 1 after police responded to a medical emergency 911 call on River Road.
According to Brunswick Deputy Police Chief Marc Hagan, Higginson was driving a 21-year-old female passenger to a hospital, after she apparently overdosed on hallucinogenic mushrooms. Shortly after 3 p.m., Higginson pulled over and decided to call for rescue instead.
The passenger was transported to the hospital. The passenger’s name was not released, and she is not being charged.
Police learned that Higginson had also ingested mushrooms, and so he was then also transported to the hospital.
