Public Supper
A Public Supper will be held on Saturday, June 7, from 5-6 p.m. at the Gray American Legion at 15 Lewiston Road. On the menu are pea and kidney beans, chop suey, cole slaw, hot dogs, breads and dessert. Library Events
Gray Public Library, 5 Hancock St., will feature a Preview/Early Bird Book Sale, on Friday, June 6, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. with a $5 admission.
The regular free Annual Book Sale is on Saturday, June 7, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and Sunday, June 8, noon-2 p.m. with a Buck a Bag Sale feature.
The Gray Public Library will also be hosting an Open House on Saturday, June 21, from noon-3 p.m. and serving light refreshments.
The library will be closed from 10 a.m.-noon on Friday, June 13. They will reopen at noon on that day. The library will also be closed all day on Wednesday, June 18. Visit the Polling Booth
Election Day is Tuesday, June 10. The polls are open at Newbegin Gym from 6 a.m.-8 p.m. All Gray registered voters can cast votes at the Gray Town Annual Election. The Municipal Budget Ballot includes nine articles appropriating funding for various town functions, with a total town budget request of $6,072,080.
The SAD 15 ballot includes one question: Do you favor approving the SAD 15 budget for the upcoming school year that was adopted at the latest District budget meeting? (Total MSAD 15 proposed budget is $23,798,011).
Finally, the town election ballot features six candidates vying for two open council positions. The candidates are Peter B. Gellerson, James T. Hennemann, incumbent Lewis D. Mancini, Frances M. Monroe, Tracy A. Scheckel, and Norman L. Tanguay.
For SAD 15, Shad W. Hall and Anne B. Rowe seek re-election. The two are running unopposed for the two 3-year terms.
For the Gray Water District, Michael P. Lessard is running unopposed for a five-year term.
Also Gray voters will take part in the state primary contests.

The Gray Town Office, transfer station, public works and library be closed on Wednesday, June 18.

GNG’s Not Your Mother’s Garden Club will be having their Annual Plant Sale on Saturday, June 7, at the American Legion Hall, Route 100 in Gray, from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Proceeds to benefit the Dorothy Wood Scholarship Fund, a scholarship for GNG students involved in “green” studies.
Camping, Discovery and a Yard Sale
At the Maine Wildlife Park, Route 26 in Gray, on June 7, at 11 a.m., join L.L. Bean staff for a camping demonstration for families; along with exhibits and displays about their popular Outdoor Discovery Schools adventures right here in Maine. A Tailgate Yard Sale will be held the following Saturday, June 14, starting at 9 a.m. Shop until you drop in the wildlife park’s parking lot with proceeds from vendor registrations benefiting the park and the wildlife. Local vendors will be tailgating out of their vehicles with a variety of great stuff at affordable prices. The 12th Annual Gray-New Gloucester High School Baseball/Softball Golf Tournament Fundraiser held on Sunday, May 4, was a huge success, organizers say. Eighty-five golfers participated in the tournament and helped to raise more than $2,000 for each program. The money will be used to purchase such items as equipment bags and warm-up uniforms.
The baseball and softball teams, their coaches, and the steering committee thank all of the wonderful sponsors and parents of the players for contributing to this event. A big thank-you goes out to Spring Meadows for hosting and catering the event. Summer Camp will be held June 30-Aug. 22 with two camps offered: Grades K-2, held at the Russell School, located at 8 Gray Park, and Grades 3-7 (up to age 12), Newbegin Gym located at 22 Main St., directly beside the Henry Pennell Municipal Complex.

Longest Day of the Year
Time to register for the 2014 Longest Day 5K. Come out and run or walk the beautiful trails of Libby Hill Forest in Gray, Maine on Saturday, June 21. A free Kids Trail Fun Run starts at 7 p.m. and the 5K trail run begins at 7:15 p.m., followed by refreshments and awards at the finish line. The fastest male and fastest female finisher will be awarded and everyone will be entered to win raffle drawing prizes. Entry fee for the 5K is just $10 before June 18, and Gray-New Gloucester students run for free. All of the entry fees are used to support the trail system.
