BRUNSWICK —The Theater Project presents The Center Stage Players in “Nourishment: A Savory Basket of Short Plays and Improvisation” on June 14 & 15 at The Theater Project, 14 School Street, Brunswick.
The Center Stage Players constitute The Theater Project’s ensemble of actors 55 or older. Some of the humorous sketches in “Nourishment” are off the wall, featuring off-kilter dialogue and broad comedic plots, while others fetch laughs in dealing with mundane situations, such as a woman’s unflappable poise in the face of the grumpiest of employers.
There’s no telling the plots of the improvisations, since the situations are themselves created on the spot—sometimes via suggestions from the audience.
The show is directed by Theater Project founder and Artistic Director Al Miller. “Nourishment” will be performed at The Theater Project on Saturday and Sunday, June 14 and 15, at 2 p.m. both days. Tickets to The Theater Project performances are Pay-What-You-Want, with a suggested price of $5, and are available online anytime at www.theaterproject.com, or by calling the box office at 729-8584.
The Center Stage Players will be presenting the show at Thornton Oaks Retirement Community in Brunswick on Monday, June 16, at 11 a.m., and will conduct a drama workshop at Thornton Oaks on Monday, June 23, at 10:30 a.m.
