The last day of this season’s St. Vincent de Paul rummage sale will be Wednesday, June 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at St. James hall in Biddeford. Use the South Street entrance.

A bird banding demonstration will be given at the Wells Reserve at Laudholm Wednesday, June 11 from 7 a.m. to noon. Master bander June Ficker has been studying birds at the reserve for more than 25 years and has banded thousands of birds during that time. York County Republicans will meet Wednesday, June 11 at 7 p.m. at the York County Court House, 45 Kennebunk Road, Alfred. Many of the GOP candidates for state and local offices will be on hand to discuss their campaigns and answer questions. It will also be the last chance to get tickets in person for the 2nd annual York County GOP Spring Fling on June 21 at East Restaurant in Wells. Learn how to protect your home, family and pets from ticks at the Wells Public Library on Thursday, June 12 at 6:30 p.m. Bob and Barb Maurais from Mainely Ticks will explain proper tick identification, show tick removal techniques, and divulge strategies for personal protection and landscape modifications. They will also answer questions and provide educational materials. This program is free, and sponsored by the Friends of the Wells Public Library. For more information, call 646-8181.

Friday, June 13

The St. Louis Alumni Association will hold its annual meeting on Friday, June 13 at 7 p.m. at the Alumni Hall, 635 Elm St., Biddeford. Election of board officers and updates on current Alumni activities will highlight the meeting. Refreshments and a light luncheon will be served. The Picnic in the Park Summer Concert Series, held in Sanford’s Central Park, will feature the Kenny Brothers Band on June 13. Concerts are free to the public, and take place from noon to 1 p.m. People may bring chairs or blankets and food. If it’s raining, there will be no concert.

Join a birder from York County Audubon for a free walk to look and listen for the many kinds of birds found in late spring at the Wells Reserve at Laudholm Saturday, June 14 from 7:30-9:30 a.m. For more information, call 646-1555 or visit wellsreserve.org.

“Celebrations in Limerick,” an open house, will be Saturday, June 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Limerick Academy Building. All are invited to visit the Limerick Academy. On display will be a selection of photos and memorabilia from the annual Limerick Founders Day parades, the 1976 bicentennial celebration, and other events.

Tuesday, June 17

Preschool story hour, an introduction to animals through a storybook reading, a short trail walk and a related craft project, will be offered Tuesday, June 17 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Wells Reserve at Laudholm. The York County Audubon annual meeting will be Tuesday, June 17 at Wells Reserve. The meeting will be followed by refreshments and social time. At 7:15 p.m., the program will be “Bird Songs” by Monica Grabin. She is a well-known local musician. She will sing and play guitar, banjo and autoharp in her presentation of an evening of songs and stories about birds. Doors up at 6:45 p.m.
