BANGOR — The fifthseeded Mt. Ararat High School boys tennis team upset No. 1 Bangor 3-2 Monday in Eastern Maine Class A semifinal action.
The top-seeded Rams fell to 12-2.
The 9-5 Eagles are now scheduled to take on No. 3 Hampden Academy (12-2) in the East finals Wednesday (10 a.m.) at Colby College.
On Monday, Nick Mathieu defeated Sam Bolduc, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 and Mike Crawford got past Josh Landry, 7-5, 6-1, at No. 2.
The Eagles’ other point came at No. 1 doubles where Trevor Mayo and Eric Knight worked up a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Patrick Lee and Chandler Stewart.
In other action, Joe Thomas lost at No. 3 singles to Kenny Colpitt, 7-5, 7-5, and the No. 2 doubles tandem of Jon Roux and Joey Reed fell to Dominic Mooney and Liam Reading, 6-4, 6-0.
Mt. Ararat and Hampden met during the regular season, back on May 8 with the Broncos prevailing, 3-2.
