BATH
The city council is slated to appoint longtime firefighter Lawrence “Buddy” Renaud as the city’s fire chief at its meeting tonight.
Renaud has served as the city’s acting fire chief since April 1 after former chief Steve Hinds retired.
According to a memo to councilors from City Manager Bill Giroux, Renaud “offers more than 27 years of experience with the Bath Fire Department with leadership progression through the ranks from firefighter/EMT to shift captain to his current position as acting fire chief.”
Renaud also served as West Bath Fire Department’s fire chief for 12 years and co-founded and was president of the Sagadahoc County Fire Chiefs’ Association. Giroux writes Renaud “is well respected by his peers and has shown excellent management skills during his two months as acting fire chief.”
The meeting starts at 6 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall.
The council will also consider accepting state primary and Regional School Unit 1 validation election results tonight.
