OLD ORCHARD BEACH — An easement agreement between the Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution and the Harmon Museum that will pave the way for a proposed parking lot passed, 515-484, in voting Tuesday.
The easement will allow vehicles from the Harmon Museum to pass over the adjacent bank property on Portland Avenue and will allow bank employees to park in a proposed parking lot behind the museum.
The two entities have proposed an agreement in which the bank will construct and maintain a 13-space parking lot behind the museum and construct a paved walkway to the museum with a handicap-accessible ramp at the front entrance of the building.
Ten of the proposed parking spaces would be for bank employees, and the remaining three would be for the museum.
The museum currently does not have a parking lot, and through an agreement with Saco & Biddeford Savings, it uses spaces at the bank’s lot. Bank officials say that they need more space to adequately provide parking for their staff and customers.
The proposed parking lot will have to go through the planning board process.
