VINEYARD HAVEN, Mass. — The Martha’s Vineyard Sharks (3-2) beat the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide (1-4) 5-4 on Tuesday at Vineyard Baseball Park behind Jon Mayer, who collected four hits.
Mayer singled in the first, third and fifth innings, and doubled in the sixth.
Kyle Brenner brought the heat against the Raging Tide during his outing. Brenner gave up just two hits and allowed no earned runs. He walked three and struck out three during his 4.2 innings of work.
Despite the loss, Raging Tide starter Will Ore was solid against the Sharks’ batters, giving up three runs and striking out five.
Matt Calamoneri recorded his first win of the year for the Sharks. He allowed one run on one hit in his one inning of work.
Dillon Corliss couldn’t get it done on the mound for the Raging Tide in relief of Ore, as he took the loss. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out one and allowed two runs.
