SANFORD — Emily Louise (Chapman) Butler, 76, died June 10, 2014 at a Bangor health care facility, with her family at her side, following a long illness.

She was born in Parsonsfield, the daughter of Lester and Bernice (Sargent) Chapman, as an only child.

She was a graduate of Porter High School in Parsonsfield.

She was married to Jackie M. Butler Sr. for 50 years. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2007.

Emily worked at a local credit union for several years, and then retired due to ill health, from Central Furniture and Appliance Co. after many years of service.

Emily’s passion was her family. She loved raising and taking care of her family. She adored her grandchildren. She loved camping and attending “Mother Earth’s Creation Powwows.”

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Madonna Chapter, of Kennebunk.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Bernice and Walter Stein; and sons, Dennis L. Butler and Jackie M. Butler Jr.

She is survived by: her daughters, Pamela D. Butler of Sanford and Sherri L. Bradstreet and her husband Jeff of Dixmont; her son, Mark B. Butler and his wife Sydnee of Sanford; and eight grandchildren, Joshua Butler, Jessica Butler, Courtney Bradstreet, Austin Bradstreet, Ryan Butler, Branden Butler, James Stewart and Paige Stewart.
