KENNENBUNK — An Old Orchard Beach man is facing charges for allegedly leaving creepy notes in the mailboxes of two Kennebunk homes that appeared to threaten children and were signed “pervert.”
Police say 39-year-old Robert Simkowitz was charged Wednesday with two counts of criminal threatening. He was not arrested, but summoned to appear in court in September.
Notes were left in mailboxes in Kennebunk on June 5 and in Arundel on Monday. One note left in Kennebunk read: “I will not stay away from your kids. Your friend, pervert.” Simkowitz has not been charged in the Arundel incident.
Police say Simkowitz has no criminal record and his motive remains unclear. Just one of the Kennebunk homes, which were apparently selected at random, had children living in it.
Simkowitz could not be reached.
