BATH — Marie DiMarco, a resident of Hill House Assisted Living in Bath, Maine, passed away on May 29, 2014. She was born Oct. 21, 1923, in Orsogna, Italy and immigrated to New York City with parents, Argia and Antonio Bartoletti, sister Celeste and brother Carlo in October 1929 at age 6. She graduated Valedictorian of Immaculata High School in New York City, and worked as a secretary until she married Enrico.

Marie was a loving and devoted wife to Enrico Podagrosi DiMarco for 54 years, and they were faithful parishioners of Saint Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Millbrook, N.Y., for over 40 years.

Marie is survived by her sister Celeste Hahn of Burlington Vt., seven children with spouses Christina DiMarco and John Fuchs, Andrea and Armand DiCarlo, Jean (Folster) DiMarco, John and Tracie DiMarco, Victoria DiMarco P. and Derek Pilgrim of West Bath, Maine, Anna and Martin Goyette, and Mary and Christopher Vincent. Marie was predeceased by her husband, Enrico and one granddaughter, Jennifer Folster, and is survived by 12 grandchildren, Christopher and Rebecca Batchie, Melissa Folster, Josh Simons, Adria Faust, Joseph and Christian DiMarco, Zachary, Jesse and Argia Pilgrim of West Bath, Colin and Amelia Goyette and four great-grandchildren, Andrew and Conner Batchie, Juniper Pilgrim and Luca Bucciaglia and a great extended family.

A kind, gentle soul and loving mother, Marie was an accomplished cook and avid gardener, a gracious homemaker and host, and a lover of knowledge — she would do the Sunday NY Times puzzle in ink. Marie’s love of birds, books, music and the outdoors is passed on to her children. She volunteered at Saint Joseph’s School’s library, and delivered Meals on Wheels and was helpful and generous to all.

Marie’s family would like to acknowledge with deepest gratitude the remarkable compassionate care she received from all of the staff at Hill House Assisted Living in Bath, Maine, during her 4 1/2-year stay there. The same gratitude is expressed to CHANS Hospice of Maine who also assisted in Marie’s care during her last two years.
