Biddeford High School’s Top Students

Danica Lamontagne, Valedictorian, summa cum laude, is the daughter of Dan and Audra Lamontagne of Biddeford. Danica has been dancing at Steppin’ Out Dance Centre since age 3 and currently competes on the Clogging and Jazz Performance Teams, takes modern classes, and is an assistant clogging teacher. She also participated in the Regional Fine Arts program for modern dance all four years of high school. During her senior year, Danica became a member of the yearbook staff and the National Honor Society Treasurer. She was also a Freshman Kick-Off Mentor her junior and senior year. This winter, Danica was named a National Merit Finalist, and the scholarship Northeastern University awarded her for this honor will allow her to fulfill her dream of studying Journalism in Boston this fall.

Amber Mondor, Salutatorian, magna cum laude, is vice president of her class and class salutatorian. Throughout her high school career, she has participated in many activities that connected her to Biddeford High School and the community. She is president of the National Honor Society, participated on the TEDx Committee as part of the executive team, and has been actively involved in student government for three years. As a literary enthusiast, Amber spends a lot of her time reading and writing. A piece of hers was published in the collection Maine Teen Writing 2014. She loves big cities, and pursues any opportunity for adventure and creativity. She will attend Boston University this fall to study English.

Joshua McCauley, magna cum laude, is the son of Tim and Sylvia McCauley of Biddeford. In his four years at BHS, Josh has participated in National Honor Society, Soccer, Track, Swimming, Baseball, Tennis, Freshmen Mentor, Model UN, and Ping Pong Club. He was captain for soccer and tennis in his senior year. In his two years as the varsity soccer goalie Josh lead the state in saves.  In the fall, Josh will be attending Merrimack College where he will major in Civil Engineering and also hope to play soccer.

Stephanie Soucy, magna cum laude, is the daughter of Andrew and Pamela Soucy of Biddeford.  During her four years at BHS, Stephanie has participated in Lacrosse, Volley Ball, Indoor Track, Outdoor Track and Tennis.  As a part of these sports activities she earned the Iron Tiger award twice and lettered in Track.  Stephanie was also a KO mentor as well as a member of the National Honor Society.  Outside of school she volunteered at the West Kennebunk Animal Shelter and became certified as an Adoption Counselor.  In the fall, Stephanie will be attending the University of New England where she will be majoring in Neuroscience.  For her academic achievements Stephanie earned a merit scholarship and after a challenging application process was selected as an awardee for the STEM scholarship as well.

Maggie Maloy, magna cum laude, is the daughter of Michael and Julie Maloy of Biddeford. During high school she participated in soccer and tennis. She was inducted into the National Honor Society, as a junior. This fall, Maggie will attend The University of Maine Honor’s College.

Ryanne Desjardins, magna cum laude, is the daughter of Ralph and Denise Desjardins, of Biddeford. Throughout her four years at BHS, Ryanne participated in interact, national honor society, GSTA, served as class president and played soccer as well as tennis. She has received all conference honorable mention, in soccer, twice. Ryanne also likes to give back to her community through volunteer work and between the summer of her freshman and sophomore year alone, she completed more than 70 hours of volunteer work and was recognized by Biddeford’s City Council for her work.

MonicaRose Gatchalian, cum laude, is the eldest child of Erwin and Rose Gatchalian. Throughout her high school career at BHS, Monica has actively participated in several clubs, such as Student Council, where she remained to be the Class Treasurer for four consecutive years, National Honor Society, and Model United Nations. Not only that, but Monica is also an avid artist, pianist, and athlete, participating in both tennis and field hockey. During her spare time, she loves to read, travel, and spend time with her family and friends. In the fall of 2014, Monica will be attending the University of New England where she will major in Biochemistry.

Phoebe Robinson, cum laude, is the daughter of Christopher and Brigitte (Neveux) Robinson of Biddeford. During her four years at BHS, Phoebe has participated in Student Council, National Honor Society, Freshmen Mentoring, Volleyball, Basketball, and Tennis. She has been a class officer for three years and was elected Secretary of the National Honor Society her senior year. She has also participated in the Regional Fine Arts program for three years. In the fall, Phoebe will be attending the University of Maine Farmington where she will study Secondary Education for mathematics.

Alexandria Quigley, cum laude, is the daughter of Bruce and Lisa Quigley of Biddeford. During her four years at BHS, Alex has participated or achieved the following: BHS Student Council, BHS-National Honors Society, COT-National Honor Society, Freshman Mentoring Program, COT-Student Leadership Council, Interact, BHS Honor Roll (4yrs), and Rotary Student of the Month. In sports: Field Hockey (4yrs)/(Co-Captain), Softball (4yrs)/(Co-Captain), Indoor Track, and Ice Hockey. She received the Tiger Pride Character Award, BHS Athletic Character Award, Madeline Goulet Field Hockey Player of the Year Award, SMAA Student Athlete Summit participant, and made SMAA All Conference First Team in Field Hockey. In the fall, Alex will be attending University of New England where she will major in Dental Hygiene and minor in pre-dental with aspirations of becoming a Dentist.

Jacob Blanchard, cum laude, is the son of Corey and Terry Blanchard of Biddeford.  During his four years of BHS, Jacob has participated in Student Council, National Honors Society, TedxYouth@Biddeford, K.O Mentoring, Varsity Football, Varsity Indoor Track, and Varsity Lacrosse.  He has been a representative of his class for three years and is now the Student Body Vice-President.  He was also a part of the TedxYouth@Biddeford steering committee that hosted the first ever student lead Tedx event in the state of Maine, and this year is on the Executive planning committee.  In the fall, Jacob will be attending Wentworth Institute of Technology where he will be majoring in Biomedical engineering.
