VERNON, Vt. — Elizabeth M. Ryan, 73, of Vernon, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014 at Vernon Green Nursing Home.

She was born in Augusta, Maine on Sept. 13, 1940, the daughter of Robert and Geraldine (Carter) Sellar.

Elizabeth attended nursing school in Maine for one year, and then was married to Robert E. Ryan Sr.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Robert Ryan Sr., in June 1999; and her son, Robert E. Ryan Jr., in April 2006.

Mrs. Ryan is survived by: her three daughters, Susan Welsh and her husband Arthur Welsh of Elkin, N.C., Jodie Balous and her husband Trevor Balous of State Road, N.C., and Robin Lawrence and her husband Ronald Lawrence of Westminster; her grandchildren, Corey Robert Ryan, Taylor Carter Ryan and Brandy E. Lawrence; her siblings, Barbara McArthur of Moline, Ill. and William Sellar, Waynesboro, Pa.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 27 at 1 p.m. in the Brookside Cemetery in Chester. The Rev. Thomas Charleton, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Chester, will officiate. A reception will follow at the home of Ron and Robin Lawrence, 5298 Westminster West Road, Westminster West, VT 05346, to share photos and memories and celebrate our mom’s life. The Adams Funeral & Cremation Service of Chester is assisting the Ryan family with arrangements.
