ERIE, Pa. — Steven Moya led of the ninth inning with a solo-homer off Robby Scott (6-2), giving the Erie SeaWolves (30-38) an 8-7 Eastern League walk-off win over the Portland Sea Dogs (44-24) on Monday in the series opener at Jerry Uht Park.
Erie jumped out to a 7-0 lead, knocking Portland starter Keith Couch out of the game in the fourth inning after 10 hits and seven runs.
Down 7-0, Portland responded in a big way in the fifth, scoring five times with two outs. Heiker Meneses started the rally with a walk and scored on a single by Deven Marrero. The Sea Dogs capped off the rally with back-to-back homers by Blake Swihart, a two-run shot, and Sean Coyle.
Jonathan Roof laced a solo-homer, his first dinger in Double-A, and Marrero tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Stefan Welch to tie the game.
Game two of the three-game series is tonight at 7:05 p.m.
