SPRINGVALE — The York County Soil and Water Conservation District invites those with private ponds in need of help and those interested in constructing a new pond to join them Saturday at 10 a.m. June 21 at the Anderson Learning Center, 21 Bradeen St., Springvale, to learn how to construct and maintain your private pond.
Experts from Natural Resources Conservation Service and the pond industry will explain the details from construction, to managing algae and vegetation, getting the water to your crops, technical and financial assistance for agriculture and how to maintain your pond and find out which fish are best for it.
Cost is $10, and light refreshments will be served. Please bring a bag lunch.
Trout will be available to purchase to stock your pond. Order forms can be requested by phone or email and will be available the day of the workshop. Contact Melissa Brandt at 324-0888, ext. 214 or [email protected].

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
