TOPSHAM
Topsham police charged a Bowdoinham man with criminal threatening after he allegedly threatened another motorist with a knife on Friday.
Friday at around 4:20 p.m., Topsham Police Lt. Fred Dunn said a driver reported that the driver of a Subaru that was behind him began tailgating him near Tire Warehouse in the Topsham Fair Mall. As the Subaru driver passed him the driver allegedly “flashed what he said was a knife at him,” according to the report.
The caller said the 2000 Subaru Legacy station wagon then got in front of him and the driver slammed on the brakes so the complainant couldn’t stop and hit the Subaru.
The drivers pulled over and an argument ensued, Dunn said, but the driver of the station wagon never got out of his car. Officer Mark McDonald responded and issued a summons to the driver of the Subaru, Nicholas Cogswell, 28, of Bowdoinham, charging him with criminal threatening and driving to endanger.
Dunn said there was a razor knife scraper in the car like one would remove stickers with.
