PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — Alex Merritt drove in three runs, sparking the Seacoast Mavericks (5-6) to a 9-7 victory over the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide (3-9) in an FCBL game on Wednesday at Leary Field.

Merritt doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the first and eighth innings.

The Raging Tide’s Graham McIntire was perfect at the dish, going 4-4 in a losing effort. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the third, sixth and eighth innings.

Michael Driscoll improved to 2-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Seacoast Mavericks. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit over two innings in relief of starter Austin French, who lasted five innings.

Alex Tobey (0-1) took the loss for the Raging Tide. Tobey tossed two innings in relief of starter Will Ore, who gave up four runs in 4.2 innings. Tobey walked one, struck out three, and allowed three runs in his relief outing.

The Mavericks outscored the Tide 8-3 over the final six innings, after OOB put up four combined on French in the second and third.

The Raging Tide tried to put together a rally against Seacoast closer James Vernon, but an Aaron Wilson solo home run wasn’t enough.
