WISCASSET — The official opening of Wiscasset’s Museum in the Streets is Saturday, June 21 at 11:30 a.m. The public is welcome to attend.
The Wiscasset Museum in the Streets is a self-guided historic walking tour with 32 panels of text and historic photographs placed throughout our beautiful, walkable village. A brochure (with map) will be available at many panel locations. The tour is the result of three years of work by an all-volunteer committee of local residents and business people, town officials, retired educators and local museum staff.
The June 21 program runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with speakers, refreshments, and the grand unveiling. The event will take place on the commercial pier/waterfront at the lower end of Water Street, near the Wiscasset Yacht Club. Questions, please call Ed Kavanagh, 882-4393.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
