FAYETTE — Winthrop C. Staples, 51, of the Sandy River Road, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 19, 2014. He was born in Gardiner on Aug. 3, 1962, the son of Dallas Staples and Cleo Chancellor.

Win proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He was a self-employed tradesman all of his life.

He enjoyed sports, horseshoes, fishing, shooting guns, being on the lake, riding horses and particularly time spent with his family.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Winthrop and Geraldine Staples, Clint and Evelyn Hinkley and stepfather Norman Chancellor. Win is survived by his mother Cleo Chancellor of Richmond, father Dallas Staples of Brunswick, stepmother Arlene Staples of Brunswick, wife Linda Hallock of Fayette, first wife Diane Staples of Dresden, sons Winthrop C. Staples Jr., and wife Stephanie of Bowdoinham, Christopher Staples and wife Alyssa of Brunswick, daughter Victoria Staples of Fayette, stepdaughter Savannah Hallock of Fayette, brothers Dallas Staples Jr. of Kansas, Dean Staples of Richmond, sisters Lisa Blackwell of Brunswick, Brenda Staples McKay of Brunswick, Tammy Turcotte of Brunswick, Christopher Staples of Brunswick, stepbrothers Jerry, Rusty and Danny Staples, grandchildren Ryan Winthrop Staples, Jacob Clinton Staples, several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, June 27 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, June 28 at 11 a.m. at the Church of The Nazarene on McKeen Street, Brunswick. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery, Richmond.
