SPRINGVALE — Richard W. Arsenault, 91, passed away peacefully in his home June 21, with his loving wife of 66 years at his side, cared for by his five devoted children, loved by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
If you are walking in the Maine woods some day, you might pass by trees loved and cared for by Dick during his many years as a forester.
A simple memorial service will be held Saturday, June 28 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church on Main Street in Springvale. Donations may be made in his memory to the Springvale Public Library (207-324-4624); First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 277, Springvale, ME 04083; or the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine (www.swoam.org).

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
