A New Hampshire man was killed early Saturday afternoon when his motorcycle was hit by a car in Bethel.

Timothy Daigle, 43, of New Boston, New Hampshire, was driving his 2011 Honda touring motorcycle west on Route 2 when he was hit by a car driven by Steven Thomas, who was turning onto Sunday River Road around 12:30 p.m., said Oxford County Sheriff Wayne Gallant.

Daigle died at the scene. His passenger, 50-year-old Patricia Ensigh of New Boston, New Hampshire, was taken by ambulance to Rumford Hospital and later by helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Gallant did not know the extent of her injuries.

Thomas, 52, of Califon, New Jersey, and Bethel, and his wife, Allison Smith, 49, were taken to Rumford Hospital. Gallant said he believed their injuries were not life-threatening.

Neither hospital would provide information Sunday night on the condition of the victims.

Gallant said the cause of the crash remains under investigation, but police believe Thomas turned into the path of Daigle’s motorcycle. No one has been charged in connection with the crash.
