TURNER — Highland Green Of Topsham split with Andy Valley in American Legion Zone III baseball action on Saturday.

Andy Valley won game one 10-7 with a five-run, first inning putting the Topsham team in a hole.

Kevin Carter and Ellison Etnier pitched for Highland (3-3) with a strikeout and four walks.

Mitchell Davis and Jared Eastman took turns on the mound for Andy Valley with five strikeouts and three walks.

In the Highland offense, Eddie Stewart had a single, double and RBI, Carter a single, double and RBI and Reilly Kons two singles and an RBI. Highland scored three runs each in the second and sixth innings to stay close.

In the 11-hit Andy Valley attack, Davis and Jonah Williams had two singles each, and Tyler Hutchinson and Caleb Baker each doubled.

Game Two win

Highland took Game Two 9-4, but led 8-1 after six. Three errors led to three Andy Valley runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Mike Stewart twirled six strong innings with seven strikeouts and only two hits allowed.

In the nine-hit Highland effort, Eddie Stewart had a three-run double in the fifth inning when the visitors plated five runs. Also in that inning, Carter and Sam Coombs each had an RBI. Both finished with two hits.

In his first-ever American Legion at-bat, Highland’s Justin Pierce doubled off the fence in the fourth inning.

Baker led AV wit a single and double, and Williams had a double.

Highland Green is scheduled to visit Pastime Club of Lewiston (5:30 p.m.) on Tuesday, host Windham in a makeup doubleheader on Wednesday (4 p.m.,) and host Rogers Post on Thursday (5:30 p.m.).
