AUGUSTA (AP) — The Maine Department of Labor is getting $4.85 million in grants that will help train workers for new careers after they have been laid off.
Maine’s congressional delegation says the money will allow the state to expand onthe job training and apprenticeship programs in highdemand industries.
Maine Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King say the grants will ease the transition for many as they reenter the workforce.
More than $150 million of such grants are being distributed nationwide.
